Root Canals

Ease the pain, save the tooth

A root canal has an undeserved reputation. In our hands it is a calm, comfortable way to relieve a bad toothache and keep your natural tooth right where it belongs.

Root Canals

Few things derail a day like a throbbing toothache, and we understand how draining it can be. When the soft tissue deep inside a tooth becomes infected or inflamed, the pain can be intense. A root canal gently removes that troubled tissue, clears the infection and seals the tooth, so you keep your natural tooth and, just as importantly, finally get relief from the ache that has been wearing you down.

We know the words root canal can sound daunting, but modern treatment is far gentler than its old reputation suggests. With effective numbing and our unhurried, reassuring approach, most people are genuinely surprised by how comfortable the whole thing is. Many tell us afterwards that it felt much like having a regular filling. Our priority is always to keep you relaxed, informed and free of pain from start to finish.

What to expect

  • Thorough numbing so you stay comfortable throughout
  • Gentle removal of the infected inner tissue
  • Careful cleaning and sealing of the tooth
  • Clear explanations at every step
  • Usually a protective crown to finish the job

Why save the tooth?

Whenever we can, we prefer to save a natural tooth rather than remove it. Your own teeth are simply the best tools for chewing and keep the rest of your smile properly aligned. A root canal lets you hold on to a tooth that might otherwise be lost, which protects your bite, your neighbouring teeth and the easy, natural way you eat and speak every day.

Comfort before, during and after

From your first phone call we aim to put you at ease. We will explain what is happening, answer every question and never make you feel rushed. After treatment we will talk you through simple aftercare, and we are only a call away if you have any worries. Looking after nervous or older patients with extra patience is something we genuinely care about.

If a tooth is aching, do not soldier on in silence. Reach out and book in, and we will gently get to the bottom of it and bring you comfortable relief. Saving your tooth and easing your pain could be closer than you think.

Root Canals — your questions

This is the question we hear most, and the answer is reassuring. With thorough numbing, the treatment itself is comfortable, much like a regular filling. In fact, a root canal relieves the pain you arrived with, so most people leave feeling far better than when they came in.

It depends on the tooth, but many root canals are completed in one or two visits. We'll usually finish with a protective crown to keep the tooth strong. At your first appointment we'll explain exactly what your tooth needs and how many visits to expect.

Saving your natural tooth is almost always the better choice. Your own teeth keep your bite aligned and let you eat comfortably. A root canal helps you keep a tooth that would otherwise be lost, and we'll always talk you honestly through your options.
