Since 2016
OurStory
One espresso machine, a handful of tables and a big idea — a decade later, we're still the neighbourhood's living room.
How It Started
A tiny cornerwith a big idea
Springfield Cafe opened its doors in 2016 as a tiny corner shop with one espresso machine, a handful of tables and a big idea: make this the kind of place locals feel like they belong. There was no investor deck, no five-year plan — just a young roaster with a second-hand machine and a stubborn belief that a suburb like Springfield deserved coffee worth walking to.
The first few months were equal parts chaos and joy. We pulled shots on a machine that needed coaxing, learned our regulars' names before we'd learned our own opening hours, and slowly, cup by cup, built a reputation for actually caring about what landed in front of you.
A decade on, that idea hasn't changed — we've just gotten better at the coffee. The tables have multiplied, the kitchen has grown a proper pastry section, and the machine finally behaves itself. But the reason we opened the doors in the first place is still the reason we open them every single morning.
How We Do It
Roasted, baked& poured with care
Every bag of beans we pour is our own house Ironbark blend, roasted just down the road so it hits your cup within days, not months. We taste-test every batch before it goes near a grinder — if it's not right, it doesn't leave the roastery.
Out the back, our bakers are in before sunrise rolling croissants and baking banana bread from scratch — nothing in our pastry case is trucked in frozen. We're proud to be a genuinely local business — real people behind the counter who know your order, your kids' names and how you like your eggs. Pull up a chair, we've been waiting for you.

What We Stand For
The values behind every cup
House-Roasted Beans
Our Ironbark blend is roasted a suburb away, so it's always fresh — never sitting in a warehouse.
Expert Baristas
Every barista trains for months before they touch the machine on their own — consistency you can taste.
Baked Fresh Daily
Croissants, banana bread and slices are made from scratch on-site, every single morning before opening.
Genuinely Local
Independently owned, Springfield-based, and proud to know most of our regulars by their first name.

Head Barista
Tom Nguyen
Seven years behind the machine, and he'll still remember how you take your flat white after one visit.
Head Chef
Sofia Rossi
Runs the kitchen with a simple rule: if she wouldn't serve it to her own family, it doesn't go out.
Pastry Chef
Ben Carter
In before sunrise every day, rolling croissants and baking the banana bread that sells out by 10am.
The Fit-Out
A space thatfeels like home
Timber tables, hanging plants and big windows for morning light — we built the room the same way we make the coffee: unhurried, warm, and made to be sat in for a while.

Our Promise
"Good coffee, honestly made, for the neighbourhood that keeps showing up."
Everything we roast, bake and pour comes back to that one line. If you haven't visited yet, we've been keeping a seat warm.
