Every Byte Deserves A Proper Pathway.

VOLTCITY SURGE designs and installs certified structured cabling systems — Cat6A copper and single-mode fibre — engineered to carry your business-critical data at 10Gb and beyond for the next fifteen years.

A building's cabling infrastructure is as critical as its plumbing — and just as invisible until something goes wrong. Poorly installed data cable is the hidden cause behind sluggish networks, packet loss, intermittent Wi-Fi, and expensive retrofits years down the track. VOLTCITY SURGE treats every structured cabling project as a long-horizon investment: material selection, pathway design, termination standards, and test documentation are all executed to the letter of AS/NZS 3080, Australia's structured cabling standard.

Cat6A Copper — 10Gb to Every Desk and Wireless Access Point

Category 6A augmented is the minimum specification we recommend for any commercial installation and for performance-focused residential builds. Running at 500 MHz with alien crosstalk suppression, Cat6A supports 10GBASE-T Ethernet over full 100-metre channel lengths — future-proofing your cabling investment against the next wave of switches, NAS devices, and Wi-Fi 7 access points that demand that bandwidth. Every horizontal run is terminated to T568B standard, labelled at both ends, and tested with a Fluke DSX cable analyser. Test results are exported and delivered with your project documentation.

Fibre Optic Backbones

  • Single-mode OS2 fibre for inter-building links and long campus runs — supports 100Gb and beyond
  • Multimode OM4/OM5 for shorter riser and inter-floor backbone segments in commercial buildings
  • LC and MPO connectors factory-polished or field-terminated using fusion-splice equipment
  • Fibre patch panels and enclosures mounted in 19-inch comms racks with full bend-radius management
  • OTDR testing on every fibre run with printed loss reports included in the handover pack
  • Armoured outdoor-rated cable for underground conduit and exposed inter-building pathways

Comms Room & Rack Design

A structured cabling system is only as good as the rack it terminates into. We design and build comms rooms and telecommunications equipment rooms (TERs) to AS/NZS 3080 requirements — specifying rack dimensions, patch panel density, power distribution units, cable management, earthing, and ventilation. Our engineers work with your IT team or managed service provider to ensure the physical layer aligns with your active equipment selection and future expansion headroom.

Wireless Access Point Infrastructure

Enterprise-grade Wi-Fi depends entirely on the wired network feeding it. We partner with leading WAP vendors — Ubiquiti, Ruckus, and Cisco Meraki among them — to position and cable ceiling-mounted access points for optimal cell coverage, minimising co-channel interference and ensuring every device gets a wired uplink capable of driving Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 speeds. PoE++ (802.3bt) cable runs are specified where high-power access points or PoE-powered cameras and phones are in scope.

Certification, Documentation, and Warranty

Every VOLTCITY SURGE structured cabling project closes with a certification package: Fluke test reports for every copper channel, OTDR traces for every fibre run, as-built floor plans showing cable routes and outlet numbering, and rack elevation drawings reflecting final installed equipment. This documentation is the foundation of any warranty claim and the starting point for your IT team's troubleshooting workflow. We offer a 25-year system warranty on installations meeting the full AS/NZS 3080 specification using approved component channel solutions.

Frequently Asked

Do I really need Cat6A, or is Cat6 sufficient?

For a home with basic internet use, Cat6 is adequate today. For any commercial environment, or a home where you run NAS storage, 4K video streaming across the local network, or plan to future-proof for 10Gb internet connections, Cat6A is the right call. The incremental material cost is modest compared to the cost of re-cabling in five years.

How long does a structured cabling installation take?

Scope drives timeline. A 10-outlet single-floor residential job typically takes one to two days including termination and testing. A multi-floor commercial fit-out with 100+ outlets, comms room build, and fibre backbone is typically two to four weeks. We provide a detailed programme at the quote stage.

Can you work around an occupied building?

Yes. We regularly stage commercial cabling works outside business hours, on weekends, or in floor-by-floor sequences to minimise disruption to tenants. This is factored into our project programme and quoted accordingly.
