What a Panel Holds

A photovoltaic module is a dense composite of materials, most of them recoverable. Tempered glass makes up the bulk of its mass, framed in aluminium, with crystalline silicon cells, copper wiring and trace silver bonding the circuit together. Sent to landfill, these materials are lost and may leach contaminants. Recovered properly, nearly all of them re-enter the economy.
