Grid Interconnection

The grid, handled for you

Between a finished array and a switched-on system sits a wall of utility paperwork. We handle interconnection applications, approvals and inspections end-to-end, so your system goes live without the bureaucratic headache.

Grid Interconnection

You can mount a perfect array, wire it clean and stand back proud — and still not be allowed to switch it on. Between a finished system and a live one sits a wall of utility bureaucracy: interconnection applications, single-line diagrams, engineering reviews, equipment approvals, inspections and the final permission-to-operate. Miss a form, use a part that isn’t on the approved list, or fill a field wrong, and your system sits dark for weeks while the utility quietly sends it back to the bottom of the pile. We make that wall disappear, so the only thing standing between you and your own power is the time it takes to do the paperwork right.

Our team has filed interconnection paperwork across dozens of utilities, and we know how each one thinks — which forms they want, which equipment they’ll accept, and which small mistakes will cost you a month. We handle the whole chain end-to-end: the application, the documentation, the back-and-forth with reviewers, the inspection scheduling, and the dogged chase for that final sign-off. You stay focused on owning your power and planning what to do with it; we deal with the people who decide when you’re allowed to turn it on.

What we handle for you

  • Interconnection applications and the utility-specific forms each one quietly demands.
  • Single-line diagrams, equipment spec sheets and the engineering documentation reviewers expect.
  • Approved-equipment checks so nothing gets rejected on a paperwork technicality.
  • Inspection scheduling and coordination with the authority having jurisdiction.
  • Net-metering and export agreement setup so your generation is credited correctly.
  • Tracking the application all the way to Permission to Operate — the green light to go live.

Why it matters for independence

A system you can’t legally run isn’t independence — it’s an expensive sculpture on your roof. Getting interconnection right the first time is the difference between flipping the switch this month and arguing with a reviewer next quarter while your panels sit idle and your loan keeps ticking. Clean paperwork also protects you for the long haul: it keeps your export agreements, net-metering credits and equipment warranties on solid legal footing, so the value you built doesn’t quietly unravel over a missing signature or a lapsed approval down the road.

Built to clear the first time

We treat your application like the gatekeeper it is. Before anything is filed, we cross-check your design against the utility’s current rulebook — interconnection limits, anti-islanding requirements, approved inverter lists and all — so the package that lands on a reviewer’s desk is complete, correct and hard to bounce. When questions do come back, we answer them fast and in the language reviewers respond to, keeping your project moving forward instead of stalling at the back of a queue for weeks. The result is a clean, predictable path from finished install to a live, earning system — with you holding the keys to it and no bureaucratic surprises waiting down the line.

Stuck in utility limbo, or want to skip the headache entirely from the start? Hand us your project and we’ll manage the interconnection from first filing through every review and inspection to Permission to Operate. We keep you posted at each milestone so you’re never left guessing where things stand or what comes next — and we get your system switched on and earning the day the utility finally says yes.

Common questions

How long does interconnection approval usually take?

It varies widely by utility — anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months. Clean, complete paperwork filed correctly the first time is the single biggest factor in moving fast, which is exactly what we manage on your behalf.

What is Permission to Operate, and why does it matter?

Permission to Operate, or PTO, is the utility’s formal green light to energize your system and export power. Until you have it, running the array can violate your agreement. We track every application all the way to PTO.

Can you handle interconnection if my system is already installed?

Absolutely. Many clients come to us mid-process, stuck on a rejected application or stalled inspection. We can pick up where things stalled, fix what the utility flagged, and drive it through to approval.
