Why ventilation matters most at altitude

A modern alpine chalet is built tight and well-insulated to survive the cold — which is exactly why it needs engineered ventilation. Sealed buildings trap moisture, cooking smells, CO₂ and the damp that follows a dozen people in ski gear. Simply opening a window throws away the heat you paid dearly to create. Multi-Season Ventilation solves both problems at once: it continuously supplies fresh, filtered outdoor air and extracts stale, humid air, while a heat-exchanger core transfers warmth from the outgoing stream to the incoming one.

Our systems recover up to 92% of that heat, so the fresh air arriving in your bedrooms is already close to room temperature even when it is −25°C on the terrace. The result is air that feels alpine-clean every morning, windows that stay condensation-free, and a building fabric protected from the slow damage of trapped moisture.

How we engineer it

Every MVHR design begins with a measured ventilation rate for each room, balanced against the chalet's air-tightness and how many people it sleeps at full capacity. We specify quiet, high-efficiency units, run sealed and insulated ducting along the shortest sensible routes, and fit discreet supply and extract terminals that disappear into the architecture. Summer bypass modes bring in cool night air for free, and humidity sensors ramp the system up automatically after a busy après-ski evening.

Commissioning is where performance is won or lost. We measure and balance airflow at every terminal, verify heat-recovery efficiency on site, and hand over a system tuned to its design figures — not left running on factory defaults.

Highlights

Built for performance at altitude

Up to 92% heat recovery

Warmth recaptured from outgoing air before it leaves the building.

Filtered fresh air

Incoming air cleaned of dust, pollen and fine particulates.

Humidity-aware

Sensors boost airflow automatically when moisture rises.

Good to know

Frequently asked

Absolutely — MVHR simply means you no longer have to in order to stay fresh. On mild days you can open up freely; the system manages itself.

No. We size units conservatively and acoustically isolate them, so a well-commissioned ALPCREST system is barely audible even in bedrooms.
