The full commission

Ground-Up Custom Builds

A blank frame, a conversation, and twelve hundred hours of obsession. This is the full commission — a motorcycle that exists nowhere else on earth because it was built around you.

A ground-up build is not a parts catalogue. It is a relationship. It starts with a long black coffee at the bench, a sketchpad, and a brutally honest conversation about how you actually ride — not how the brochure says you should. Commuter or canyon-carver, weekend poser or interstate hammer, we design the machine around the truth of it.

From there we work in metal. The frame is jigged, raked and stretched to your geometry. The tank is shaped by hand. Every bracket, every mount, every tab is fabricated in-house so nothing on the finished bike is an off-the-shelf compromise. You watch it happen — we send progress shots from the booth, the lathe and the welder so the build never disappears into a black hole.

What a ground-up commission includes

  • Design consultation, mood-boarding and a full mechanical specification
  • Frame modification — hardtail, raked neck, stretched backbone or fresh jig build
  • Hand-formed sheet-metal tank, guards and seat pan
  • Engine selection, rebuild or performance package to suit the brief
  • Bespoke wiring loom, electronics and switchgear
  • Paint, plating and finishing to a show standard
  • Roadworthy, engineering certificate and registration assistance

Built to be ridden, not just photographed

Plenty of shops can weld a pretty thing that looks lethal and rides worse. We are not interested. Every Syndicate build leaves on a dyno sheet and a real-world shakedown. Ergonomics are mocked up with you sitting on the bike before a single weld is finished. Brakes, lighting and charging are engineered to pass, because a custom you can't legally ride is just an expensive sculpture.

A full commission is a serious undertaking — typically four to nine months and a meaningful investment. In return you get a documented, numbered build, a folder of fabrication logs, and a motorcycle that holds its value because it was made properly the first time.

How the process runs

We take on a limited number of ground-up builds each year so each one gets the bench time it deserves. After the initial design lock-in and a deposit, you'll get a staged schedule — fabrication, mechanical, finishing, certification — with a checkpoint at each gate. You approve, we proceed. No surprises, no scope-creep invoices buried at the end.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a full custom build take?

Most ground-up commissions run four to nine months depending on complexity, parts lead times and how much fabrication is involved. We give you a staged timeline before we start cutting.

Can I supply my own donor bike?

Absolutely. A donor you have history with often makes the best build. We assess it first and tell you honestly what is worth keeping and what needs to go.

Will it be road legal?

Yes. Every build includes roadworthy, engineering certification where required, and registration assistance. Legal to ride is non-negotiable.
