Dedicated Circuits, Conduit and Signal Cabling Infrastructure
The electrical foundation of a high-performance home theatre begins with dedicated circuits drawn from a clean point on the switchboard, ideally from a sub-board isolated from the rest of the distribution. This prevents the switching noise generated by motors, dimmers and variable-frequency drives elsewhere in the home from inducing interference into the power supply of audio equipment where it becomes audible. For serious two-channel audio installations, individually earthed circuits for amplifiers and source equipment are a standard provision.
HDMI, HDBaseT, fibre-optic and control cabling must be installed before plasterboard is fixed, which means the AV cabling scope must be resolved at rough-in stage in coordination with the builder's programme. We specify and install all signal cables to correct bend radii, separation distances from power cables and termination standards for the signal type, because a high-speed HDMI run installed without attention to these details will underperform at 4K and 8K resolutions and create commissioning problems that are expensive to diagnose and rectify after finishes are complete.

Standard domestic circuits share wiring with appliances that generate switching noise on the power supply, which high-gain audio equipment can amplify into audible hum and interference. All in-wall AV cabling, including HDMI, speaker, control and network cables, must be installed before plasterboard is fixed. This occurs during the rough-in stage of construction, which means the AV design must be substantially resolved before the walls close. HDBaseT is a technology that carries HDMI video, audio, power and control signals over a single Cat6A network cable at distances up to 100 metres, well beyond the practical limit of a passive HDMI cable. It is the correct choice wherever the projector or display is separated from the equipment rack by more than approximately five metres, which describes most dedicated cinema rooms. We specify HDBaseT as standard for cinema rooms and advise on passive HDMI only for short, direct-connection applications.
Yes. Calibration is a standard component of our home theatre commissioning process. We use measurement microphones and room-correction software to characterise the acoustic environment and apply appropriate correction to the audio system, and we calibrate projectors and displays to relevant colour and gamma standards using professional measurement equipment. An uncalibrated system consistently underperforms its rated capability, and calibration is the step that delivers the performance the hardware is capable of.
