Tyres, Wheels & Beadlocks

The right rubber for every surface

Tyres are the only thing connecting your build to the track. We fit the right all-terrain or mud-terrain, on the right rim, at the right load rating.

Tyres, Wheels & Beadlocks

You can spend a fortune on suspension, lockers and armour, but it all comes down to where the rubber meets the road. Tyres determine your grip, your puncture resistance, your ride and your ability to carry a heavy load safely. We stock and fit BFGoodrich, Toyo and Maxxis in the sizes and patterns that suit touring rigs, and we take the time to match the tyre to how you actually travel rather than just selling you the most aggressive tread on the wall.

For most tourers a quality all-terrain is the sweet spot, offering strong off-road traction, long highway tread life and a quiet, comfortable ride. If your trips are dominated by mud, sand and technical tracks, a mud-terrain clears better and bites harder, at the cost of some road noise and tread life. We talk through the trade-off and the size, making sure your chosen tyre clears your guards and suspension at full stuff. A tyre that rubs at full lock or under compression will chew itself out and damage your guards, so getting the size and clearance right is just as important as choosing the tread pattern.

Load rating is not optional

A heavy touring vehicle needs a tyre with the load rating to carry it safely, especially loaded for a long trip in the heat. We check that the load index of every tyre we fit suits your laden weight, and we fit light truck construction where the extra carcass strength and puncture resistance matter. Running a passenger-rated tyre on a loaded tourer is a recipe for blowouts and sidewall damage on rough tracks, so we get this right from the start.

  • BFGoodrich, Toyo and Maxxis all-terrain and mud-terrain tyres
  • Light truck construction for load and puncture resistance
  • Load rating matched to your laden touring weight
  • Beadlock and bead-retaining rims for low-pressure work
  • Precision balancing and rotation for even wear
  • Tyre pressure advice for sand, rock and highway

Beadlocks and low-pressure work

When you air down to claw across soft sand or crawl over rock, very low pressures can let a standard tyre roll off its rim. Beadlock rims mechanically clamp the tyre bead in place so you can run pressures that would otherwise be risky, transforming your traction and flotation. We fit genuine beadlock and bead-retaining wheels, balance them carefully and advise on the pressures that suit each surface so you get maximum grip without rolling a tyre off. For most tourers, a quality bead-retaining rim and sensible pressure management is plenty, while serious sand and rock crawlers benefit from full beadlocks.

Wheels, clearance and the right fitment

The wheel matters as much as the tyre. We match rim diameter, width and offset to your tyre size and your guards, so the tyres clear your suspension at full lock and full compression without rubbing. The right offset also keeps your wheel bearings and steering geometry happy rather than loading them up with a poke that wears parts out early. We balance every wheel carefully, often with a road force balancer for heavy off-road tyres, so your steering stays smooth at highway speed even on aggressive rubber. Get the fitment right and a big tyre upgrade improves the vehicle everywhere instead of introducing vibration and rub.

We can also set you up to monitor and manage pressures on the move, from a quality gauge and deflator to a tyre pressure monitoring system that warns you of a slow leak before it strands you on a corrugated track. Good tyres change how a vehicle drives everywhere, on the highway and off it. Come in and we will match a tyre and wheel package to your rig, your loads and the country you cross.

FAQ

Tyres, Wheels & Beadlocks questions

For most touring an all-terrain is the best all-rounder, with good off-road grip, quiet road manners and long tread life. Choose a mud-terrain only if your trips are mostly mud, sand and technical tracks where extra bite outweighs the road noise.

A loaded tourer is heavy, and a tyre without enough load capacity overheats and is far more likely to blow out, especially in summer. We fit light truck tyres with a load index matched to your laden weight so they carry the gear safely.

Only if you regularly run very low pressures for sand or rock work where a tyre could roll off the rim. For general touring, quality tyres aired down sensibly are fine. Beadlocks are a worthwhile upgrade for serious low-pressure terrain.
