Industrial electrical systems operate at a scale and complexity that requires a fundamentally different engineering approach. Load profiles are not static — production schedules, shift patterns, and process changes all alter the electrical demand on a facility continuously. Starwatt Systems brings the discipline of proper load flow analysis, protection coordination, and power quality assessment to every industrial engagement, rather than simply matching cable sizes to existing breakers.

Our industrial team holds the high-voltage licences, confined-space certifications, and EWP operator tickets required for safe work in industrial environments. We operate under documented safe work method statements and comply fully with the electrical safety requirements of Safe Work Australia and each relevant state jurisdiction.

Motor Control and Drive Systems

Rotating plant — motors, compressors, pumps, conveyors, and fans — typically represents the largest portion of an industrial facility's electrical load and the greatest source of power quality disturbance. Starwatt installs and commissions motor control centres (MCCs), variable speed drives (VSDs), soft starters, and direct-on-line (DOL) starters to the manufacturer's specification and AS/NZS 61439 switchgear standards. We also carry out VSD parameter configuration, motor direction commissioning, and load testing prior to handing over any rotating plant installation.

High-Voltage Switchgear and Transformers

Facilities with on-site substations, ring main units, or 11 kV reticulation require licensed high-voltage electricians for any work on primary plant. Starwatt holds the HV competencies required in Queensland and New South Wales and has completed substation augmentation, transformer oil sampling, protection relay testing, and 11 kV switchgear maintenance on sites ranging from food processing factories to water treatment facilities. All HV work is conducted under a documented switching programme and safety-from-the-system procedure.

Hazardous Area Electrical

Facilities handling flammable gases, vapours, or dusts must install electrical equipment that cannot ignite the surrounding atmosphere. Starwatt's hazardous area electricians are competent in AS/NZS 60079 series requirements, including zone classification review, Ex equipment selection, installation methods for Ex e increased-safety and Ex d flameproof enclosures, and the inspection and maintenance requirements of AS/NZS 60079-17.

Power Quality and Harmonic Management

Industrial facilities with large VSD populations, arc furnaces, or switched-mode power supplies frequently experience power quality problems — voltage sags, harmonic distortion, and low power factor — that reduce equipment life, increase energy costs, and cause nuisance tripping of sensitive process control equipment. Starwatt conducts power quality surveys using calibrated class-A power analysers, interprets the data in the context of your facility's process, and designs corrective measures including passive harmonic filters, active front-end drives, and power factor correction systems.

Yes, shutdown work is a core part of our industrial service offering. We pre-position materials and equipment before the outage window, deploy sufficient licensed electricians to complete the scope within the agreed timeframe, and maintain a live safety management interface with your shutdown coordinator throughout. We have successfully completed major industrial electrical works within 24-, 48-, and 72-hour shutdown windows.

Yes, subject to a documented switching programme and a site-specific safety-from-the-system procedure agreed with your HV system owner. All HV switching is performed by licensed high-voltage electricians who hold the relevant state-issued competency. We do not perform live HV work without a site-approved switching and isolation protocol in place.

Deliverables include as-built single-line diagrams, updated cable schedules, relay setting records, test and commissioning reports, and the relevant certificates of compliance. For hazardous area work, we also provide updated equipment registers and inspection records to the AS/NZS 60079-17 format. All documentation is provided in both hard copy and digital format.
