Structured PoE Cabling and Power Infrastructure

Power over Ethernet is the backbone of every modern IP camera network, carrying both data and 15–30 W of power across a single Cat6 cable. StarWatt's data-cabling team installs structured cabling to AS/NZS 11801 standards, with each run tested for insertion loss, return loss and crosstalk to ensure it meets the PoE+ performance specification. Managed PoE switches are rack-mounted in lockable communications enclosures with dedicated UPS backup, ensuring cameras remain recording during brief mains interruptions and providing a clean power quality environment for sensitive network electronics.

Access Control and Alarm Integration

A camera system that records an intrusion after the fact is useful evidence. An access-control system that prevents the intrusion is infinitely more valuable. StarWatt integrates electronic access control — proximity card readers, PIN keypads, biometric scanners and electric door strikes — with the camera network so that every door-open event is automatically tagged with the corresponding camera footage. We install intruder alarm panels, PIR and dual-technology motion detectors, glass-break sensors and magnetic door contacts, all wired to monitored alarm systems that notify your guard-response service within seconds of a breach.

StarWatt installs IP video intercoms from single-residential entry stations through to multi-tenant strata systems with hundreds of apartments, all manageable from a smartphone. Gate and boom-gate automation is wired with safety-edge devices, photocell beams and loop detectors to meet the strict safety requirements of Australian Standards for powered gates, and can be integrated with your access-control credentials so residents and staff never need a separate gate remote.

Ongoing Support and System Health Monitoring

A security system that fails silently offers a false sense of safety. StarWatt offers preventive maintenance contracts that include regular camera-lens cleaning, NVR health checks, storage-capacity verification, firmware updates and test recordings to confirm every device is capturing evidential-quality footage. System health monitoring with automated alerts means we know a camera has gone offline before you do.
