Paint is the first thing everyone sees and the hardest thing to fake. A great respray starts long before colour goes on, in straight panels, sound metal and proper prep. RoughEdge handles the whole job: panel and rust repair, custom candy and pearl mixes, and a cut and polish that makes the finish look wet. Whether you're refreshing a tired shell, changing colour or chasing a show-stopping custom flake, we build the paint from the metal up so it lasts and turns heads.

Panel And Rust Repair Done Right

Paint hides nothing for long. Bog over rust and it'll bubble back through within a season, so we cut it out, treat the metal and repair properly before anything gets prepped. Dents, dings and dodgy previous repairs get sorted so panels are actually straight, not just skimmed to look flat under filler. On older JDM metal this stage is everything, because a clean base is what separates a respray that still looks sharp in five years from one that fails at the first hint of moisture. We take the time in metal so the colour has something solid to sit on.

Custom Candy And Pearl Mixes

Straight colour is easy; getting a candy, pearl or flake to lay down even and deep is a craft. We mix and lay custom colours that shift and glow in the light, building the layers so the finish has real depth instead of looking flat and painted on. Candies want consistent coverage or they blotch, and pearls and flakes want the right spray technique to sit even across every panel. Cut And Polish For A Wet Finish

Fresh paint out of the booth isn't finished paint. We colour-sand to knock back any texture, then cut and polish through the stages to bring up a deep, mirror-clear gloss with no swirls or hazing. This is where a good respray becomes a great one, taking the finish from flat to genuinely wet-looking. Done properly it also gives you a hard, level surface that's easier to keep clean and ready for ceramic if you want to lock it in. The final polish is slow, fussy work, and it's exactly the sort of detail we won't rush on your car.

Prep Is Where It's Won

Anyone can spray colour; the paint jobs that still look sharp years later are the ones with the hours in prep. We block panels flat to kill the waves and ripples that cheap jobs leave behind, seal and prime correctly, and mask carefully so edges and jambs come out clean rather than half-done. Old JDM panels often need coaxing straight before they'll take a mirror finish, and we put that time in up front. It's unglamorous work that nobody sees once the colour's on, but it's the foundation that decides whether your respray looks factory-fresh or gives itself away in the reflections.
