Roll Cages & Chassis Reinforcement

Stiffen the shell. Save your spine.

Roll Cages & Chassis Reinforcement

A roll cage does two jobs: it keeps you in one piece if it all goes wrong, and it stiffens the shell so everything else you've bolted on can actually do its job. RoughEdge builds cages to Motorsport Australia spec, tacked and welded properly, tied into a chassis that's been seam welded and reinforced. Whether you're chasing a log-book, a serious track weapon or a shell that finally feels solid, we build structure you can trust with your life.

Built To Motorsport Australia Spec

If you want to compete, the cage has to meet the rules for your category, full stop. We build to Motorsport Australia specifications using correct tube diameter and wall thickness, proper mandrel bends, and mandatory bars and gussets for your class. Main hoop, diagonals, door bars, harness bar and mount plates all go in where the regs require them, not where it's convenient. We can build with a log-book in mind so your cage passes scrutineering rather than getting knocked back on a technicality. Get this right up front and you save yourself a world of grief on event day.

Seam Welding And Chassis Reinforcement

A factory shell is spot-welded, which leaves flex between panels once you start pushing real grip and power through it. We seam weld key sections to tie the shell together, then add reinforcement plates at high-load points like strut towers, subframe mounts and suspension pickups. The result is a chassis that resists twist, so your suspension geometry stays put under load and every alignment and corner-balance you pay for actually holds. A stiff shell makes the whole car feel sharper and more predictable, and it protects your investment in everything hanging off it.

Tied In And Finished Properly

A cage is only as strong as where it meets the car. We land the main mounts on spreader plates that distribute load into the shell instead of tearing through thin floor pan. Welds are clean, penetrated and inspected, not pretty on the surface and hollow underneath. We fit the cage around your seat and driving position so you can still get in, get belted, and get out fast if you have to. Then it's finished to suit the build, whether that's raw and functional or painted to match. Structure first, always, then the finish.

Built Around The Driver

A cage that saves the car but hurts the driver has missed the point, so we build with your safety gear as part of the plan. Harness bar height gets set so your belts pull at the correct angle over your shoulders, not down into your spine. Seat mounts, padding on any bar near your helmet, and clearance for a helmet and a HANS-style device all get considered from the start rather than bodged in later. We'll talk through where you sit, what belts and seat you're running, and how you get out in a hurry, so the finished cage protects you the way the rules intend it to.
