Big Brake Upgrades

Brakes don't make a car fast, but they're what let you use the speed you've already got. Every braking zone is a chance to carry pace deeper into the corner, and every lap is a chance for heat to build until a tired system gives up. Fade rarely happens on lap one; it creeps in on lap four or five, right when you've found a rhythm and started to push.

At XTC Motorsport we treat braking as a thermal problem first and a hardware problem second. The pedal going long isn't usually a sign you need bigger callipers; it's a sign something in the system has reached its temperature limit. We diagnose where the heat is winning, then build a package that keeps working when the rotors are glowing.

The system, not just the rotor size

A big brake kit looks impressive behind a spoke, but the upgrade that matters most is often the cheapest. Pad compound, fluid boiling point and cooling almost always govern fade before raw rotor diameter does. We start there, because a sorted pad-and-fluid combination on a healthy factory caliper will out-brake a flashy kit running street pads and tired fluid.

When the car genuinely needs more thermal capacity, larger rotors and multi-piston callipers give us more material to absorb heat and more even pad pressure. We spec kits sized to your car's weight, power and the circuits you run, so you're not carrying unsprung weight you don't need.

Track pads, high-temp fluid and a firm pedal

Pad compound is the single biggest lever on track performance. We match a compound to your usage, balancing initial bite, fade resistance and how kind it is to the rotor, and we'll fit a more streetable compound for the drive home if you want a dual-purpose setup. High-temp fluid with a high dry boiling point keeps the pedal firm long after a street fluid would have gone spongy.

A brake package is only proven once it's held up across a full session, so we set everything up to be repeatable. Correct bedding, a proper bleed and brake ducting where it's needed mean the pedal you have on lap one is the pedal you have on lap eight. Big Brake Upgrades questions

For most track-day cars, track pads and high-temp fluid solve fade before a big brake kit is needed. We only recommend larger rotors and callipers when your car genuinely needs more thermal capacity for its weight, power and circuit.

Aggressive track compounds can be noisy and need heat to bite, so they aren't ideal for the street. We can fit a dual-purpose compound, or set you up to swap to track pads at the circuit, depending on how you use the car.

That's almost always the brake fluid boiling rather than the pads fading. Upgrading to a high-boiling-point fluid and doing a proper bleed usually restores a firm, consistent pedal across a full session.
